Do you value who you are, what you have? Or are you striving, yet you are not sure what it is you are striving for?
“We all live Extraordinary Improbable Lives”, and once you align yourself with that truth, you will feel all the power you will ever need.
Mentalist Derren Brown
I recently watched a mentalist named Derren Brown and it is his words that I quoted for this article.
Anyhow, in his show he helped a woman who is a scientist and an atheist to have a religious experience.
In the end, he explained to her that her emotions were real but that he helped her to feel them.
Not a God. Thereby demonstrating that we all have a super power within us that we can tap into!
This was very profound for me. I am a skeptic of many things but I know that matters of the heart and emotions are powerful and can lead to extraordinary feelings or beliefs.
Many people need to feel these emotions… they make us feel good, they help us feel less alone… our hearts warm and we feel compassion… we feel love and feel LOVED.
Do We Need A Creator?
This is a loaded question. I personally don’t like religion, but I am not convinced that we are here, on this perfect earth, by accident.
Take a moment to think about this…
Humankind is on a massive rock that rotates to give us night and day while it orbits a sun the perfect distance away.
Gravity, a mystery to scientists, keeps us firmly grounded and shapes everything about us and our awesome rock we call earth.
We have the perfect atmosphere to maintain liveable conditions, and a unique solar system to keep us safe. Including a magnetic field that protects us from cosmic rays and solar storms.
Jupiter often attracts asteroids, thereby protecting us. And on earth, we have water… oceans that support a perfectly balanced ecosystem.
We are the only life that we know of.
The stars and planets we do see, are nothing like our planet nor like our solar system. In fact everything else in space looks desolate and quite honestly, dead.
Now, pondering all that, why is it “magical thinking” to believe something created what we are and what we have?
Is our world and the Universe we observe not magical in of itsself?
Is it not magical that we are flying through a sea of black space, on a magical marble that works in perfection for us?
It is an intelligent design that begets an INTELLIGENT DESIGNER.
Now, of course, that is just my thought process and it may not be true.
So do we need a creator to make sense of our lives? To be moral and live enriched lives? To understand the miracle of us?
I don’t believe so, but I take no offense to nonbelievers or others who believe differently.
You Are Truly One Of A Kind: It’s time you align your life with this truth!
What is your inner dialogue? Do you tell yourself that you take bad pictures when someone wants a photo with you?
How do you react when someone compliments you? Do you thank them and feel appreciative of the compliment, or do you secretly tell yourself that the person who gave the compliment is stupid because you “always suck at what you do” and don’t live up to expectations set for you, by you?
If your reaction is bad to the above scenarios, you must work on your self-esteem. Right. The. F. NOW.
People give compliments because they want you to feel good. If you shoot them down constantly, one day they may stop complimenting you all together.
So why is it that accepting a compliment is difficult?
- Low Self-Esteem- If your thinking is flawed and you believe you are not “good enough”, it can be difficult to understand how others can say such wonderful things about you.
- You Are Not Comfortable With Big Expectations- If you have issues with your self-worth, it is more comfortable to keep your expectations low so you are pleasantly surprised when you do well.
- Your Self-Image Does Not Line Up- If this is the case, then when someone gives you a compliment you may reply with something like “I just got lucky”, or “I only won because there was nobody to compete with”. If you don’t see yourself as competent, smart, or skilled, a compliment doesn’t add up to that poor self-image.
You need to know without a doubt that you are one of a kind, that you matter, and that you are deserving of compliments and happiness!
How To Live Your Extraordinary Life
As you move along in your journey, all you can ever have is the moment you are in. The only person you can be is exactly who you are.
There is nothing wrong with being both a work in progress and a masterpiece... in fact, this is what makes you extraordinary.
Owning nice things or having a career is nice, but those “things” mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. It is all about the love you give, the moments you create, the experiences that helped you understand who you REALLY are.
Give freely to others and you impact their life and touch their heart. However, give freely to others without expectation and you impact your own life, your own heart.
Universal laws are at play whether you realize it or not, whether you accept it or not. Each and every single thing you do will attract things of the same energy. As they say, “where your attention goes, energy flows”. Always be mindful of what you project… your choices determine the outcome of your life.
You have the power to change your life, it is already inside of you waiting for you to tap into it. You need nothing else.
Life may have knocked you down a time or two, but it didn’t get the best of you. What are you going to do to align with your passion, your purpose?
Discover the cognitive distortions that contribute to your unhappiness and work on them. Don’t allow anything to hold you back. Fight your self-limiting beliefs, and truly learn to love who you are.
When you truly love yourself, you learn how important it is to take care of your mind, body, and soul.
You must know that just as you are, you are remarkable and extraordinary… but it is what you do that will make you memorable.
